The history of the Kusanagi sword stretches back to legends. According to Kojiki, Susanoo met the grieving clan of Kunitsukami, headed by Ashinashi, in Izumo Province. When Susanoo asked Ashinazuchi, his family was terrorized by the fearsome Yamata no Orochi - Kushinadahime (Kinadahime).
