Asuma is the carefree type who doesn't want to get involved in unnecessary things, such as when she decided not to help Hinata Hyuga in her Chunin exam despite the interference of other teachers. Asuma also had a habit of smoking, but when he learned that his father (Third Hokage) had passed away and Kurenai was pregnant, he abruptly quit.
